Simple steps toward contentment and joy

I will share five ways you can start your journey to contentment.

All these techniques are tested and pass the test of time.  Just adding simple tools can start to shift your well-being.

1. Turn to friends and family

You are having a difficult day. Pick up that phone and dial; I am talking about real conversation. Or, if possible, meet friends or family in person for a quick coffee. It will brighten your day by brightening theirs. Sharing what you are going through will bring some peace to your emotional turmoil.

2. Rearranging your Priorities

You have a long list of tasks, and the day only has 24 hours. I break them into "MUST' and  "SHOULD."

I list the top 5 priorities in "MUST" based on most important to least important. The remaining go on to my should section. It will take make things manageable while removing unnecessary stress.

3. Gratitude

Practicing gratitude reduces materialism. Several studies are proving that theory. 2009 Study led by Nathaniel Lambert, now of Brigham Young Univerity, found that inducing gratitude in people caused a decrease in materialism. More money and less clutter are excellent ways to lead to contentment.

4. Revaluate your Scenario

We all have negative or bad experiences. We tend to play them in our heads countless times. Every negative experience has a lesson in it. Think of all the positive outcomes from the negative experiences.

5. Appreciate and be kind to yourself

My four year told me last week. Quote"This is how you love yourself." He hugged himself and kissed his arm. That little gesture was very powerful. Giving ourselves little love can go a long way. Be kind to yourself. Write five qualities you have. Connect to yourself using mindful breathing. Use kind words towards yourself.

They are simple and easy to incorporate. Let me know if you tried them and if it was helpful. I would love to hear your comments.

Always with Love and Gratitude
